Steps to Fix a Flat Tire
Owning a new car from Moritz Chrysler Jeep® Dodge RAM is a lot of fun, but sometimes inconveniences happen. One of the most common problems when you drive a vehicle is a flat tire. Unfortunately, flat tires happen to everyone, so it’s a good idea to learn how to change a flat tire. The experts here at Moritz Chrysler Jeep® Dodge RAM can walk you through the steps necessary to change a flat tire.
Step 1: Safety First
Before you change your flat tire, you’ll need to be in a safe and secure area. Pull over to an area that is away from oncoming traffic and flat, so your vehicle won’t start to slope. Make sure your emergency brakes are on and that your vehicle is in park. You’ll also need to be prepared, so make sure you have the correct tools. This means you’ll need a spare tire, a tire iron, and jack.
Step 2: Removal & Replacement
Now you can start the actual process by using the tire iron to loosen the wheel lugs on the flat tire. Then, place the jack under the vehicle and raise it until the tire and the vehicle are completely off the ground. Now, remove the wheel lugs and the flat tire. Replace the flat tire with the spare tire and use the tire iron to tighten the wheel lugs. Once the spare tire is secure, use the jack to safely lower the vehicle back down to the ground.
